Entitled: Admiral Byrd

Physical Description: Relief print. Black ink on rag paper, woodcut. Portrait of Admiral Bird as a middle-aged man in dress uniform. Paper border on all sides of print.

History of Object: The artist, Herschel Logan, donated this print. According to Logan, this print was executed in Kansas. Logan was born April 19, 1901, in Magnolia, Missouri, and moved to Winfield, Kansas, shortly afterward. He attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He worked as an advertising artist in Salina until his retirement in 1968. He was also a gun collector and cartoonist. Logan moved to Santa Ann, California, sometime after 1968. According to Logan, this portrait was "cut on a rubber plate."
