Entitled: Dodge City

Physical Description: Narrow, rectangular-shaped poster promoting the movie "Dodge City." The poster is printed in sepia tones. Names of principle actors (Errol Flynn, Olivia DeHavilland, and Ann Sheridan) printed in white at the top above photos of the three actors. Title printed in brown across the center of the poster. Photo of a stagecoach in a desert-like landscape (complete with mesas) behind and beneath the title. Credits and tagline printed between stagecoach photo and a photo of a group of four men at the lower edge of the poster. Narrow white border around the edges. Back is plain white with numbers written in the upper right and lower left corners.

History of Object: Donor purchased the collection of movie posters between 2003 and 2004. The donors came to Kansas from Texas in 2003 so that James Haines could take a position as the CEO of Westar Energy in Topeka. Cynthia Haines is on leave from the University of Texas at El Paso, where she is an associate professor in film studies. They began the collection after moving to Kansas. "Dodge City" was first released in 1939, and the actors traveled to Dodge City for the premier. It was re-released in 1951.
