Entitled: William Allen White

Physical Description: Desktop plaster sculpture model of William Allen White. Small cast plaster bust depicting a heavy-set male figure with thinning hair. Figure is wearing a jacket, vest, and bowtie. Bust is mounted on oval base and painted a light brown color. Tan felt adhered to underside.

History of Object: This model was rendered by Hays artist Peter Felten and presented to the Capitol Murals Committee as part of a project to install statues of William Allen White, Arthur Capper, Amelia Earhart, and Dwight Eisenhower in the Kansas statehouse. Felten presented the committee with this model sculpture in an attempt to win the commission, which he did.
