Physical Description: Small horseshoe (hind shoe, or possibly mule shoe) of hand-wrought iron. U-shaped shoe with shallow fullering groove running along outer edge on both branches, extending from near toe to halfway down sides. Eight nailholes in the fullering grooves, four on each branch.

History of Object: According to accessions ledger, this shoe was found on the Santa Fe Trail at or near Council Grove.

Date: Between 1800 and 1870
