(1890-1979)

  • Served in U.S. Army during World War I, later became an attorney
  • Was American Legion National Commander 1936-1937
  • Wrote in longhand on hotel stationery what would later become adopted G.I. Bill of Rights, which enabled millions of World War II soldiers to get a college education
