Kansas Day in the Classroom
Happy 160th Birthday Kansas!
On January 29, 2021 Kansas will celebrate its 160th birthday! Traditionally, the Kansas Historical Society offers Kansas Day events for schools and the public at the Kansas Museum of History and several historic sites. While it is not possible to celebrate in person at the museum and historic sites this January, resources are being made available to help you create your own unique Kansas Day experience.
The year 2021 is also the bicentennial of the Santa Fe Trail. Traders, freighters, gold seekers heading to Pikes Peak, and the military all used the Santa Fe Trail at some point between 1821 and 1880, and the majority of the trail passed through Kansas.
Resources will continue to be added through Kansas Day, so check back often.
