Kansas Historical Society - Reopening, hours, directions, health crisis

Please note: The Kansas Museum of History, Museum Store, Discovery Place, Stach School, Kansas State Capitol historic tours and dome tours, Capitol Store, and onsite programs are closed due to the health crisis.

The Kansas Historical Society is taking extra steps to keep the public, staff members, and their families safe.

  • The Kansas State Capitol is open for self-guided tours
  • Some state historic sites are open with restrictions

Covid-19 Response

The Kansas Historical Society is following phases outlined in Ad Astra: A Plan to Re-Open Kansas, along with county and state health guidelines.

The Historical Society has instituted enhanced measures including frequent cleaning, the addition of plexiglass shields at check-in points, and requiring all staff members to wear masks and socially distance themselves. Safety procedures may change depending on updated data and vary depending on county and local requirements.
