Kansas State Capitol - Gold Star Memorial
Located south of the of the Capitol, this memorial was dedicated on September 23, 2022, to honor immediate family members of a U.S. Armed Forces service member who died during a time of conflict. The monument honors more than 6,500 fallen Kansans who were service members. Approximately 4-feet-tall on a marble stand, the memorial plaque reads, “Gold Star Memorial; dedicated by the grateful citizens of the state of Kansas in honor of those Gold Star Families who sacrificed a loved one for our liberties and freedom.” The memorial was built with money from private donations.
